The book was iconic, as it celebrates Yoruba cultural heritage and teaches moral at the same time. Ogboju Ode Ninu Igbo Irunmole was first published in the year 1950. This epic story was centered on a renowned hunter named “Akara-Ogun”. Akara Ogun’s father was a great hunter, fierce, courageous and very powerful.
He married four different wives, and Akara-Ogun’s mother was the eldest of them. He gave birth to nine children, of which Akara-Ogun was one of them. Akara-Ogun’s mother was a brutal witch, and she killed the rest of the three wives. After the death of Akara Ogun’s parents, he manned up, and head to the forest of demons.
